Vaser liposuction is a fairly new method of liposuction which is included in the category of non-evasive procedures. This liposuction type only got accreditation from the FDA in 2002. Vaser is actually a trademark brand of liposuctions that dissolve fat with the use of ultrasound. As the procedure is not evasive, there is minimum effect on the blood vessels, nerves and non-fat tissues of the area operated. Vaser liposuction is currently on top of options for non-evasive procedures because it only results in minimal bruising and only requires minimal recovery time. Moreover, the procedure is virtually painless, to the delight of most patients.
During Vaser liposuction, the patient may be fully awake and conscious throughout the entire operation. After the operation is done, the patient may rest for a minute or two before leaving the operating room. Very minimal pain and some light bruises may be experienced hours later as the body will adjust and recover, but it is not something that the patient should be wary of.
As for the liposuction cost it varies depending on the amount of work needed to be done, the surgeon, and the city where it is done. On the average, a procedure would cost $5,000, with the most affordable being at $1,500 and the most costly to be around $10,000. The most affordable parts of the body to be operated on would be the face, thighs and hips.
The Vaser type of liposuction is not really meant for heavy duty work. That means that morbidly obese patients may want to look into other options instead of Vaser. This type of liposuction would be more recommended for people who want to have spot fat reduction for areas that do not actually respond to diet and exercise, especially for areas that develop excess layers of fat, like double chins, muffin tops and love handles.
